FORUMSHARES BEST MARKETING PRACTICE

NBG, the premier buying group for independent builders merchants, has held a successful marketing forum to disseminate and share best practice amongst marketing professionals. The forum, attended by over thirty principles, directors and marketing managers from some of the UK’s leading independents, focused on all aspects of merchandising for merchants.

The forum was addressed by three merchandising experts covering tops including visual merchandising, merchandising layouts to maximise sales, and in-store category management. Each session included opportunities for delegates to discuss practical merchandising solutions and chances to share best practice and marketing solutions in a cooperative setting.

“NBG is well-known in the merchant sector for its strong community ethos and sharing best practice is one of the key ways in which we foster that spirit,” says Nick Oates, NBG’s MD. “We aim to bring members together regularly in a variety of settings to share information and ideas with a cohort of their peers. It is part of our drive to improve standards and set benchmarks amongst our members and offer them a raft of added value services in addition to our core activity of negotiating competitive buying deals for members.”

Future NBG marketing events, open to marketing professionals in NBG merchant member companies, will involve sharing ideas on topics such as successful promotions, e-marketing campaigns , and getting the best out of loyalty schemes. Members can find details of the next sessions on NBG’s pioneering business hub – the online business facility for members and suppliers through which all of NBG’s business is now conducted.
