THE GREAT RIVER RACE 2007
Great River Race 2007
Rainy Day Trust appeal.
A very big thank you to all who have contributed towards the appeal, which has so far raised around £7000 for our industry charity.
On Saturday 8th September our crew, expertly coxed by Linda Poore, completed the 22 mile race in a time of 2hours 45minutes and 29seconds. The conditions were ok, ie not too hot, but there was a slight headwind and very ‘choppy’ water through the pool of London (Lambeth to Tower bridges) producing waves of 3to 4 ft. The fastest boat, a dragon boat with about 22 oarsmen, finished in 2 hours 11 mins.
For the record we were 30th out of 280 boats on handicap, 49th out of 280 boats on time, 19th out of 165 boats with 4 oars, 11th out of 124 Thames based boats and 4th out of 34 skiffs in the race. Not a bad effort for a crew all on the wrong side of 50(Cox excluded!!) handicapped at 126 out of 280!
Please send any outstanding donations to Clare Holland, Rainy Day Trust, Brooke House, 4 The Lakes, Northampton. NN4 7YD., marked Great River Race Appeal.
Many thanks once again, your help will be much appreciated by the trust beneficiaries, and thank you from all of the crew for your support!
