Builders Merchant Apprentice Alan Smith is celebrating after being awarded an Apprenticeship in Customer Service, by the Builders Merchant Federation (BMF).
Alan, age 20, who works for Crescent Building Supplies in Ruislip, was awarded his City and Guilds NVQ Level 2 Certificate after successfully completing his apprenticeship programme.
Alan was guided through the apprenticeship scheme, which was designed to provide specific training and practical understanding of customer service skills, by BMF Apprenticeship Manager, Nina Royle. Nina says, “He is a flexible member of staff who deserves to be rewarded for all his hard work, and now has a national qualification to show for it.”
Les White, MD, Crescent Building Supplies comments, “Alan has been with us for three and a half years and is a hard working, reliable member of staff, who started off in the yard and is now driving fork lifts. The BMF apprenticeship training scheme is a great programme, and is something we encourage all new members of staff to participate in. We want them to learn all there is to learn, advance within their career and progress within the company.”
The BMF apprenticeship training scheme is free for the employer and is carried out whilst the employee is at work. It offers trade specific tuition and results in recognised, national qualifications. Skilled and experienced trainers and assessors work with trainees to satisfy current business needs and develop new talent. The programmes are fully funded by the Government and aim to deliver specific skills and knowledge by attracting and retaining talented people in the merchant industry. The Scheme is currently also available for FREE from the BMF to Adult Leaners who can also achieve NVQ’s.
