It's coming home!
2009 Annual Inter Area Football Competition
This years competition held at the Telford, Field of Dreams proved to be every inch as competitive as previous years, with no small amount of talent and skills on display. Unfortunately the bulk of those talents and skills were not even remotely football related but that did not spoil day or prevent anyone talking a good game after the final whistle had long been blown.
The competition is always held round the NMBS exhibition and NBG LLP executive chairman Allan Durning says the winners vary, usually depending on how much alcohol has been consumed the evening before.
Southern merchants triumph at NBG tournament
This year, the triumphant southerners were captained by Rav Sumal and they beat Mike MacLellan's Northern team by six goals to three, before drawing with John Dibble's Central team in the final. The result of the Northern versus Central match was a gentlemanly two-all draw.
"I'd like to thank everyone for all their efforts and energy in participating in this annual event," Durning told buildersmerchantsjournal.net. "It's proving to be a very successful way of promoting camaraderie amongst the regions and bringing together people from around the country on a sporting basis."
Congratulations to the NBG Southern Region who were victorious and scooped the coveted trophy for yet another year.
