From the very first day of trading in 1984, Parker Building Supplies’ philosophy has always been to provide ‘Quality of Service’ with knowledgeable and well trained staff backed up by good stock availability and an efficient delivery service, and this ethos remains firmly in place today.
Parker Building Supplies is the leading Independent and multiple National Award winning Timber and Heavyside Builders’ Merchant based in the South East, supplying both the retail and trade sectors. As a result of a strategic expansion and acquisition programme over the last few years, the company now employs in excess of 280 members of staff at 25 locations across the region.
As well as its heavyside depots, the company has a number of stand-alone trading divisions specialising in Paving, Kitchens, Plumbing, Joinery, Architectural Ironmongery and Garden Furniture.
Parker Building Supplies supports dozens of local charities, schools and other worthy organisations, but this year again named Teenage Cancer Trust as its main charity partner. The charity exists to improve the quality of life and chances of survival for young people with cancer and does not receive any government funding, so they rely on voluntary donations. That’s why Parkers have, for the fourth year running, gone to great lengths to raise funds (so far in excess of £100,000) and awareness and our hardworking, dedicated staff have been unstinting in their support.
More than a Builders’ Merchants... Parker Building Supplies views itself as much more than a Builders’ Merchant. The company actively promotes its abilities as a solutions provider and as a problem solver. Particular attention and emphasis is placed on its service credentials and professionalism. It also markets its ability to demonstrate time and cost saving ideas for customers allowing them to focus on and add greater efficiency to their own business or project.
Is the leading independent and four times National Award winning Timber and Heavyside Builders’ Merchant based in Sussex and Kent selling to both retail and trade customers. The company currently employs 140 members of staff in 11 locations and runs a modern fleet of vehicles including 20 HGV lorry’s all fitted with remote controlled and operated cranes.
In addition Parkers has ‘state of the art’ IT and communications systems offering such things as on line ordering, customer access to account information and requests as well as providing detailed product information. Further, well trained and experienced staff motivated in offering personal attention to customer needs and requirements, have a wealth of in depth product knowledge. This knowledge encompasses everything from traditional building materials and regulations to renewable energy and environmentally friendly products.
The company has responded to customer requests by introducing product centres within branches such as hard landscaping displays as ‘stand alone’ areas. It has also developed a wide range of specialist product showrooms including kitchens, bathrooms and joinery. Innovatively a material resource centre and brick sourcing service allowing customers to locate materials and discuss plans in a comfortable and relaxed environment has been created within its head office building. This centre also has the benefit of a plan copier and a ‘take off’ service is available to customers.

Ever conscious of the public’s growing appetite for on line shopping and general everyday use of the internet the company’s website is in continuous revision, upgrade and development. It now also carries additional information including daily local traffic and weather reports. Ten new news items are added each month to keep the site fresh and vibrant. An environmental section - Green @ Parkers - has also been developed. The website was awarded the Best Builders Merchants Website Award in November 2010.
