Geoff Simpson and John Allinson established S&A in 1978, initially manufacturing steel framed buildings, however the builders merchants side of the business soon evolved into a stand-alone entity. The group was restructured in 2016 when the trading divisions were split into two separate trading companies to better reflect their separate needs and identities with the builders merchants business becoming S&A Builders Merchants Ltd.

The success of the company is much attributed to the dedicated team of people who work here, day in day out, many of whom have been with the company for 20+ years, building up a wealth of experience so that customers, both trade and public, know and trust the advice, flexibility and support offered.
